A Detroit rapper known for embracing her plus-size figure is taking legal action against Lyft after a driver refused to let her ride in his vehicle, citing concerns about her weight. Dajua Blanding, who performs under the stage name Dank Demoss, has filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination after a Lyft driver turned her away when she attempted to use the service to attend a Detroit Lions watch party.

The incident unfolded earlier this month when Blanding hailed a Lyft ride, only to be met with unexpected rejection. Upon arrival, the driver took one look at her and immediately told her she would not fit in his car, a Mercedes-Benz sedan. Despite her insistence that she could fit comfortably, the driver refused to transport her.

“I can fit in this car,” Blanding asserted, but the driver remained firm, responding, “Believe me, you can’t.” He went on to explain that he had encountered similar situations before and was unwilling to risk the safety or condition of his vehicle.
